Modeling Research and Test Verification of the Seismic Response of a Multistage Series Liquid Tank

Liquid storage tanks are lifeline structures and strategically very important. Heavy damages or even collapse of these facilities subjected to strong earthquakes may cause disastrous consequences. In this paper, the seismic response a multistage series liquid tank was simulated by finite element method verified scaled-down experiment. The structural flexibility liquid-structure coupling characteristics between wall were considered in research. A multimass-block spring model employed be equivalent longitudinal vibration tank. relationships connection springs elements stiffness matrix explicitly deduced. analysis four-stage carried out, acceleration response, stress tank, vertical obtained. experimental results good agreement with simulation results, which verifies effectiveness modeling paper.
